Seconds glimpse of Soap drama back in the Days!!
Weekend Movies on Old Doordarshan including Regional.
Well, doordarshan did manage Families to come-together at the Prime time 8:30p.m to watch Sitcoms and certainly the weekend movies. if you recall they played old movies from late 50s till early 90s. When I was a kid, I used to like watching only colored movies since Black
and white prints were kinda boring and also the fact we didn't understand the real story behind it untill we were all grown up.
Today I look for movies which have got great entertainment and ART, irrespective of how old it is. I have been enjoying the great work of legendary Bollywood director of 1960s Late Guru dutt and his movies Pyasa, Kaghaz ke Phool or Sahib bibi aur gulam there's so much to look for in those movies, I can't really express in words.
So yeah! on Doordarshan they showed some really great and Rare movies in Color or Black n white and there's a best part which I almost forgot to mention in this post that is about the Ads, do you remember folks! for a short time before showing the movie and after an Intermission there were few ads in between, as a Kid I loved that part, watching ads was so much FUN more than the movie :) therefore I made a complete different post about it and if you would want to enjoy some really old ads all you've got to do is Click on this link to recall those sweet moments :)
I just remembered we also used to get some Regional movies on Weekends and these movies had won National Film Awards. Some of them were quite entertaining. for e,g Anjali, Pushpak Vimaan and many more. Please name a few if you know any good movies folks.
Here's a sample of the past, some scenes might be not appropriate for certain ages below 18, Sorry about that. Parental Guidance is advised.

PUSHPAK VIMAN (KANNADA MOVIE ORIGINAL)
Pushpak (English title: The Love Chariot) is a black comedy Indian film released in 1988. Set in an large unnamed Indian city (shot in Bangalore), the film is based on the king-for-a-day story. The film is notable for its inventive recasting of the silent movie form. This movie was released again in different languages Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. Though shot in color and featuring incidental noise, the film does not have any dialogues. However, unlike classic silent movies, the film has very little mouthing of dialog; instead, clever cinematography, implicit and physical communication, and creating scenes or shots where a dialog would plausibly be absent are used. Additionally, crafty camera placement is sometimes employed to rationalize the inaudibility of dialog.
It won the 1988 National Film Award for Best Popular Film.

Exclusive: "Mind Your Language" 1977 a British Comedy Sitcom.
Watch the Pilot Episode, right here ;) its called "THE FIRST LESSON".
This may have not been aired on DD national channel in the 70s or 80s but I must tell ya, its pretty entertaining. I am sure you guys would love it the plot is based on the Foreign students who join the Adult School in UK England i believe, to learn "English as a Foreign Language" this is the course they are "Unrolled for" as one of the student puts it to the school's pompous and tight-fisted Principal, Ms Courtney, when the student is looking to find the Classroom (what he means is Enrolled for) Mr Brown who's the English teacher learns himself the trouble and humor in different cultures from the students as he is teaching them. I love this sitcom enjoyed watchin' very episode n its really hilarious to listen to the students when they innocently mis-interpret things or mis-pronounce words while they are learning. Watch n Enjoy:)">
